Why families rely on the Memory Book

Care teams work better when everyone has the same information from day one.

Instant care context

Any new caregiver — a respite worker, a sibling visiting from abroad — walks in with everything they need to provide good care from the first moment.

No more searching for numbers

Every family member, doctor, and emergency contact in one place. Find the right person in seconds, not minutes.

Safer handovers

Medical notes, allergies, and care considerations are always on hand. Informed transitions mean fewer gaps and fewer risks.

Personal dignity

Beyond clinical facts, the Memory Book captures the person — their story, their preferences, what brings them joy. Care becomes more than task completion.

Four sections. A complete picture.

Each section is designed around real caregiving moments — handovers, emergencies, new team members, and everyday care.

Identity & Personal Profile

Capture who your loved one is — not just their name, but their story. This section helps every caregiver connect with the person behind the care plan.

  • Preferred name and how they like to be addressed
  • Birthplace and cultural background
  • Relationship status
  • Language and communication preferences
  • Personal summary — in their own words

Medical Context

Not a clinical record — a practical caregiver reference. Document what in-home and family carers actually need to know to provide safe, confident care.

  • Primary conditions and diagnoses
  • Allergies (food, medication, environmental)
  • Hearing and vision notes
  • Current medications and administration notes
  • Other health considerations for carers

The details that transform care from functional to personal. Knowing what soothes, what to avoid, and what sparks a genuine smile makes every interaction better.

  • Activities, topics, and experiences they enjoy
  • Food preferences and things to avoid
  • Music preferences and favourite conversation topics
  • What comforts them when upset
  • Sensory preferences and distress triggers

Built for the team. Visible to everyone.

The team owner builds the Memory Book. Every caregiver you invite — family members, in-home workers, or support people — can see it the moment they join, with no setup required.

Who benefits from the Memory Book

From the overnight carer arriving for the first time to a sibling checking in from overseas.

The overnight respite carer

"I used to dread covering for a family I didn't know. Now I check the Memory Book before I arrive."

  • Knows preferred routines and bedtime comforts before walking in
  • Can find emergency contacts without waking anyone up
  • Understands medication needs from the first night

The sibling returning from overseas

"I visit twice a year and feel like a stranger. The Memory Book closes that gap."

  • Catches up on medical context without a long family debrief
  • Knows what Mum enjoys now versus a year ago
  • Can step in and help confidently from day one

The primary caregiver

"I am the memory bank. The Memory Book means I don't have to explain everything every time."

  • Documents everything once — not a dozen times
  • Shares the care burden without losing control of accuracy
  • Reduces the emotional load of constant communication

The GP or community nurse

"Families that arrive organised help us provide better care."

  • Carers arrive at appointments with clear, current medical notes
  • Allergies and conditions are documented, not guessed
  • Contacts are available for coordinated care conversations

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about the Memory Book feature.

What is the Memory Book and who can see it?
The Memory Book is a structured care profile for your loved one, covering identity, contacts, medical context, and personal preferences. It is part of your CarerView Family Circle plan. The team owner builds and updates it. Every team member you invite can view the full Memory Book as soon as they join — no separate setup required.
Do I need the Family Circle plan to use the Memory Book?
Yes. The Memory Book is a team feature available on the Family Circle plan. It is designed to be shared — so it makes most sense when you have at least one other caregiver or family member on your team who benefits from seeing the same information you've recorded.
Can team members edit the Memory Book?
Currently, only the team owner can create and edit Memory Book entries. All other team members have read-only access. This ensures the Memory Book stays accurate and consistent, with one person responsible for keeping it up to date.
Is the Memory Book a medical record?
No. The Memory Book is a practical caregiving reference — not a clinical document. It captures information that helps caregivers provide safe, informed, and personal care. For formal medical records, please refer to your loved one's healthcare providers.
What happens if I forget to fill in a section?
The Memory Book works with whatever you add. Incomplete sections display a clear status so the team owner knows what is still needed. You can build it out gradually — even a partially completed Memory Book provides significant value to incoming caregivers.
Is my loved one's information private and secure?
Yes. The Memory Book is only visible to members of your care team — people you have explicitly invited. It is stored securely on encrypted infrastructure. CarerView never shares your data with third parties and you retain full ownership of all information you enter.
Will the Memory Book grow over time?
Yes. The current Memory Book covers the four core sections: Identity, Contacts, Medical, and Preferences. Future updates will add Daily Living routines, Meals, Activities, a Behaviour & Safety section, a personal Journal, and a Change Log. Existing entries are preserved across all updates.
